Menendez Loses Supreme Court Appeal

The ruling could allow a corruption prosecution to move forward.

“The U.S. Su­preme Court said Monday it will not hear an ap­peal by” Sen. Bob Men­en­dez (D) “po­ten­tially clear­ing the way for his tri­al on bribery and oth­er charges to be­gin in Septem­ber in Ne­wark. … Men­en­dez is ac­cused of re­ceiv­ing nearly $1 mil­lion in bribes, in­clud­ing flights on a private jet, and lodging in Par­is and at a Carib­bean re­sort, and con­tri­bu­tions to polit­ic­al com­mit­tees that boos­ted his re-elec­tion ef­forts in 2012.”
