“Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke on Thursday left the door open to a Senate bid, saying the odds of him running are “less than 50 percent.” However, in his new book, called “Cop Under Fire,” Clarke says he is not running for Senate.

He wrote, “I have no interest in running for elected office other than being sheriff. I’m not running for mayor, I’m not running for congressman, I’m not running for senator, and I’m not running for governor.”

In the Thursday interview, he said, “I never say never; I haven’t totally closed the door, but I think it’s less than 50 percent that I’d run for the Senate.” (Wisconsin State Journal/FOX 6)
