Sonjia Smith “recently gave $500,000 to” former Rep. Tom Perriello (D). “Smith’s contribution accounts for nearly half of the $1.1 million that Perriello has collected since he declared his candidacy last month. Though fundraising reports are not due until mid-April, the former congressman let slip his total this past week — without mentioning Smith or her largess.”

Smith’s husband, Charlottesville “investment wizard” Michael Bills, is Lt. Gov. Ralph Northam’s (D) “biggest donor — so far. Bills has given the front-runner for the 2017 nomination $150,000 of the $3 million that the lieutenant governor has raised since January 2015. (Richmond Times-Dispatch)
