Rep. Lynn Jenkins (R) announced she will not seek reelection in 2018, saying she plans “to retire and explore opportunities to return to the private sector.” Jenkins, who was considered a possible gubernatorial candidate, will not seek “any office” next cycle. (release)

Jenkins’s retirement opens up a safe Republican district, which President Trump carried with 56 percent of the vote in 2016, according to Daily Kos Elections.
