“The Ohio GOP is no longer John Kasich’s party. Donald Trump’s pick for Ohio Republican Party chairwoman took the helm Friday, after the incumbent chairman” Matt Borges “a longtime ally of the Ohio governor, failed to secure enough votes for his re-election. The chairperson’s race served as a proxy for Trump versus Kasich, capping months of feuding between the former presidential rivals.” Jane Timken is now the new Ohio GOP chairwoman. CALIFORNIA GOP. “Hundreds of Donald Trump’s California supporters gathered Saturday to celebrate his impending inauguration — and to try to funnel the energy that propelled him to the White House into turning their cobalt-blue home state red,” which remains a tough proposition in the overwhelmingly Democratic state. AMERICA RISING, 2018 READY. Republican research shop America Rising announced a new round of hires for the 2018 cycle. Many of the group’s top leaders will remain with the group, including Matt Rhoades and Joe Pounder. (release)
