Businessman Jay Sidie (D) released his first ad slamming Rep. Kevin Yoder (R) as the “architect” of Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback’s (R) education budget cuts.

“Back to school is usually an exciting time for our family. But earlier this year, I wasn’t sure if there’d be a school for my daughters to go back to,” Sidie said in the spot. “I’m a small businessman, not a politician. But I’d do anything to protect my daughters’ future.” (release)

HITTING BACK. Yoder’s campaign released a new ad Wednesday hitting Sidie for skipping “every school funding vote here in Kansas, failing to support over half a billion dollars in new investments in our children’s future.” The ad lists elections ranging from April 2001 to January 2015 that the campaign says Sidie didn’t attend.

“When our kids’ schools were on the line, Sidie didn’t lift a finger to vote,” a narrator says in the ad. (release)
