TARGET PRACTICE. The political-action committee founded by former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg launched a new TV ad for Toomey, saying he’s “shown the courage few others have” to support background checks for gun buyers. Roll Call reported that the group’s buy in Philadelphia was “so substantial” that the Toomey campaign was not currently advertising there.

The ad features a handful of newspaper headlines praising Toomey on gun control issues, followed by a narrator who says it’s “no wonder leading Pennsylvania police organizations endorsed” him. (CNN)
