A Quinnipiac University poll (July 30-Aug. 7, 815 LVs, +/-3.4%) found Sen. Rob Portman (R) leading former Gov. Ted Strickland (D) 49-40% (release)

WHOOPS. Strickland apologized Wednesday “for cheering the timing of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia’s death,” calling his own remarks “insensitive.” The comments, made at an AFL-CIO gathering, went viral Wednesday, overshadowing Strickland’s first paid media launch.
