At the Democratic National Convention, closed-door events offered “influence brokers the chance to break bread away from Dover with heavyweights like” Gov. Jack Markell (D), Rep. John Carney (D), “House Majority Leader Valerie Longhurst, House Speaker Pete Schwartzkopf and others. All of the above attended a Wednesday night lobbying event hosted by 15 local sponsors, including Artesian Water, Delmarva Power, Port Contractors Inc., the Delaware and New Castle County chambers of commerce, and several attorneys and lobbying firms.” (Delaware News Journal)
