House Ethics Committee leaders said Thursday they are looking into a matter involving freshman Rep. Markwayne Mullin. The office of the Oklahoma Republican said he is cooperating with the investigation and believes he is in compliance with all ethics rules.

Neither Mullin’s office nor the independent Office of Congressional Ethics would provide any further details on the matter, which was announced by Ethics Committee Chairman Mike Conaway and ranking Democrat Linda Sanchez. A spokeswoman for Mullin, 36, said that “there would be no further comment at this time” from him. The committee said it will announce its next course of action on or before March 24.
