At their national convention Saturday, Delaware Republicans endorsed state Sen. Colin Bonini (R) for governor over political newcomer Lacey Lafferty (R). “Despite endorsing him, the party will not spend resources” to boost Bonini. (Delaware State News)

The winner of their Sept. 13 primary will face Rep. John Carney (D) in November.

SPEAKING OUT. The editorial board of the Wilmington News-Journal criticized Delaware Republicans for having little political clout in the state. The publication wrote, “As of now, Delaware Democrats aren’t truly being challenged to do more or think differently. … All we are endorsing at this point in time is a lively, dynamic and intelligent battle for the state’s highest office. No election should be a forgone conclusion.” (Wilmington News-Journal)
