When asked about real estate mogul Donald Trump (R), former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R) jumped at the chance to slam his rival for sitting out Thursday’s Republican debate. Bush said at a town hall in Des Moines: “Donald Trump’s not treated fairly by the press? He consumes all the press. It’s like he’s a Stradivarius violinist from the Vienna symphony, man. The press is just being played like nobody’s business. Poor little Donald, being mistreated.”

Bush also said he has a $20 wager with his staff that Trump will show up to the debate anyway. (Time)

ALL IN THE FAMILY. Calling former President George W. Bush the “most popular Republican alive,” Jeb Bush said he hopes his brother will join him on the trail in South Carolina next month. “Bush said Mitt Romney, the party’s presidential nominee in 2012, was the only Republican who could compare to his brother’s popularity. ‘These are iconic figures in our party,’ Bush said.” (Bloomberg

ON THE LINE. In a conference call Wednesday night with 1,200 New Hampshire voters, Bush said “as president, he would promote a convention of the states to push a Balanced Budget Amendment, while pursuing a ‘forward-leaning, offensive perspective’ to destroy ISIS. (WMUR)

SHOW OF SUPPORT. Bush raked in a slew of endorsements. Former Rhode Island Gov. Lincoln Almond (R) signed on to support Bush’s campaign. He also announced endorsements from “a New Hampshire veterans coalition of 55 veterans across the state.” (Rhode Island Public Radio/New Hampshire Union Leader)

Meanwhile, Bush announced his South Carolina leadership team includes more than 50 staffers who were “formerly co-chairs and members” of Sen. Lindsey Graham’s (R-SC) finance network in the state. (Charleston Post and Courier
