Rep. John Conyers (D) is 400 signatures short of making the primary ballot, according to Wayne County Clerk Cathy Garrett. Conyers’s attorney said they still believed they received more than the necessary 1,000 valid signatures necessary and will fight the decision. Conyers originally turned in 2,000 signatures, of which 1,193 were found to be valid. But two signature-gatherers were found to not be registered voters when they collected signatures, invalidating another 400. (MLive.com)

Conyers’s campaign manager said he is prepared to run as a write-in candidate if necessary. (Detroit News)
