An estimated 12,000 protesters circled the White House on Sunday, protesting the proposed Keyston XL pipeline that would bring carbon-heavy tar-sands oil from Canada to U.S. refineries on the Gulf Coast. The protesters gathered on a pleasant, sunny afternoon. Many were heard chanting, “Stop the pipeline; yes we can.” Here’s a look at the scene from the protest near the North Lawn of the White House.
