Burt Bacharach Receives Gershwin Prize at the White House — PICTURES

Song­writers Burt Bachar­ach and Hal Dav­id were honored Wed­nes­day night at the White House by Pres­id­ent Obama with the 2012 Lib­rary of Con­gress Ger­sh­win Prize for Pop­u­lar Song.

Dav­id couldn’t at­tend and was rep­res­en­ted by his wife, Eu­nice, ac­cord­ing to White House pool re­ports. The awards present­a­tion and mu­sic will be broad­cast on May 21 as a part of the PBS pro­gram, “In Per­form­ance at the White House,” which in­cluded per­form­ances by Stevie Won­der, Sheryl Crow, Mi­chael Fein­stein, Di­ana Krall, Lyle Lovett, Rumer and Shele, ac­cord­ing to the re­ports.
