The Con­gres­sion­al Gold Medal was awar­ded posthum­ously to Con­stantino Bru­midi on Wed­nes­day in a ce­re­mony held in the Ray­burn Room of the Cap­it­ol. Bru­midi (1805-1880) was an Itali­an im­mig­rant com­mis­sioned to paint por­tions of the Cap­it­ol, in­clud­ing the fresco un­der the dome. He is known as the Michelan­gelo of the Cap­it­ol.
