Each year since 1964, the U.S. Capitol Building lawn has sported a towering Christmas tree for all to enjoy. This year, the Capitol Christmas tree—a 73-foot Engelmann spruce—was shipped in from the White River National Forest in Colorado.
From Dec. 4 until Dec. 26, the tree will be lit from nightfall until 11 p.m. each night, illuminating the 5,000-plus ornaments decorating the tree.
The tree arrived at the Capitol on Nov. 26. Check back for updates as the tree gets spruced up (pun intended) and elsewhere in D.C. as the city prepares for end-of-the-year festivities.
