The body of former Sen. Ted Stevens, R-Alaska, who died in an Aug. 9 plane crash in Alaska, will be laid to rest in Ar­ling­ton Na­tion­al Cemetery at 1 p.m. today.

Stevens, the longest-serving Re­pub­lic­an sen­at­or in his­tory with more than 40 years in the Sen­ate, was in the Army Air Corps dur­ing World War II and re­ceived the Air Medal and the Dis­tin­guished Fly­ing Cross.

Sen­ate lead­ers have post­poned their usu­al weekly lunch­eons un­til Wed­nes­day be­cause of the ser­vices today.
