AG Mike Cox (R) “is­sued an opin­ion” 12/14 “that ex-De­troit May­or Kwame Kilpatrick (D) broke the law if he used cam­paign money to pay at­tor­neys to de­fend him…” The “opin­ion does not say defin­it­ively that Kilpatrick vi­ol­ated” MI cam­paign fin­ance law. It “dir­ects” Sec/State Terri Lynn Land (R) “to de­term­ine wheth­er Kilpatrick tapped his re-elec­tion ac­count to pay his law­yers” (El­rick/Schae­fer, De­troit Free Press, 12/16).
