Former state Sen. Chip Maxwell (R) announced he will not run as an independent against Rep. Lee Terry (R), despite collecting enough signatures. Maxwell’s candidacy would have split the Republican vote, giving state Rep. Brad Ashford (D) an advantage.

Maxwell said he planned on running in two years. “I discovered that there is decisive support for me to win the 2016 Republican primary,” he said. (KMTV)
