Former Rep. Michael McMahon (D) is “quietly floating himself as a candidate for a potential special election” if Rep. Michael Grimm (R) resigns. McMahon has declined to say whether he plans to run Grimm’s seat , but he spoke extensively at a meeting of the Bay Ridge Democrats about former New York City Councilman Domenic Recchia’s (D) loss to Grimm.

“The problem is that people did not vote,” he said. “You have a district that has a red DNA like this district has, it’s not insurmountable, it can be done, but its natural tendency is to vote Republican.” (New York Observer)
