Potential Candidates Eye Jolly’s Seat in Case of Senate Run

A num­ber of Demo­crats and Re­pub­lic­ans ap­pear to be po­ten­tial can­did­ates for Rep. Dav­id Jolly’s (R) if he runs for Sen­ate. Among Demo­crats, former De­fense De­part­ment of­fi­cial Eric Lynn (D) has already an­nounced he’ll run. Pinel­las County Com­mis­sion­er Ken Welch (D), County Com­mis­sion­er Janet Long (D), at­tor­ney Jes­sica Ehr­lich (D), and County Com­mis­sion­er Charlie Justice (D) are all con­sidered pos­sib­il­it­ies.

Among Re­pub­lic­ans, former St. Peters­burg May­or Rick Baker (R), state Sen. Jack Latvala (R), state Sen. Jeff Brandes (R), Pinel­las County Sher­iff Bob Gual­tieri (R), and loc­al NAACP chapter pres­id­ent Manu­al Sykes (R), who switched to the Re­pub­lic­an Party, are con­sidered po­ten­tial can­did­ates.
