A number of Democrats and Republicans appear to be potential candidates for Rep. David Jolly’s (R) if he runs for Senate. Among Democrats, former Defense Department official Eric Lynn (D) has already announced he’ll run. Pinellas County Commissioner Ken Welch (D), County Commissioner Janet Long (D), attorney Jessica Ehrlich (D), and County Commissioner Charlie Justice (D) are all considered possibilities.
Among Republicans, former St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Baker (R), state Sen. Jack Latvala (R), state Sen. Jeff Brandes (R), Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri (R), and local NAACP chapter president Manual Sykes (R), who switched to the Republican Party, are considered potential candidates.
