Rep. Dina Titus (D-01) announced Tuesday that she would run for reelection, opting not to seek retiring Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid’s (D) seat and clearing the way for former state Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto (D).
Titus: “After serious reflection, I have come to my decision. There are many reasons why I chose this path, but none more important than what is best for our great state. It has been an incredible honor to serve and represent the people of Nevada. I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished together, but I know that there is still much work to be done.” (Facebook)
Reid, following Titus’s announcement: “Dina Titus has done a remarkable job representing Nevada in the House of Representatives and I know she will continue to do so for a long time. Representing the first district, Dina will be able to gain crucial seniority on committees and ensure our small state has a voice on issues affecting us. She will continue the work she has done for decades: fiercely fighting for Nevada.” (release)
