PPP: Toomey Leads Potential Dem Recruits

The Democratic pollster tested him against Seth Williams, Chris Carney, Vincent Hughes, and Ed Rendell.

A Public Policy Polling (D) (IVR + Internet) survey (May 21-24, 799 RVs, +/- 3.5%) found Sen. Pat Toomey’s (R) approval at 30-37%. The Republican led both of his Democratic challengers, former Rep. Joe Sestak (D) and Allentown Mayor Ed Pawlowski (D), as well as a series of hypothetical Democratic recruits: State Sen. Vincent Hughes (D), former Gov. Ed Rendell (D), former Rep. Chris Carney (D) and Philadelphia District Attorney Seth Williams (D). Sestak, who was unknown by more than half of respondents, came closest to Toomey. (release)
