Nanette Bar­ragan (D) be­came may­or of Her­mosa Beach dur­ing a ce­re­mo­ni­al may­or switch Tues­day but im­me­di­ately said she’ll step down from the post Ju­ly 31 to fo­cus on her cam­paign. The may­or­ship ro­tates among dif­fer­ent mem­bers of the coun­cil. (Beach Re­port­er)

The oth­er can­did­ates in run­ning in the dis­trict are Los Angeles County Deputy Dis­trict At­tor­ney Mar­cus Musante (D), state Sen. Is­ad­ore Hall III (D), and Chris­toph­er Castillo (R).
