In a speech to supporters in Mesa, Arizona this week, real estate mogul Donald Trump (R) called for a primary challenger to Sen. Rand Paul (R). The comments came amid a rant criticizing Paul’s chances in a presidential campaign.

Trump: “Whether you like his politics or not, his father had a certain spark. … Rand doesn’t have that spark. And I love Kentucky, it’s one of the great places. But I don’t get it, how does this guy get reelected in Kentucky? I don’t know, is he going to be primaried? Is somebody going to challenge him? I mean we do want a Republican. He’s a nasty guy.” (Hotline reporting)
