Kentucky Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes (D) is out with her first attack on Sen. Mitch McConnell (R). Her new ad features retired coal miner Don Disney, who asks McConnell why he voted to raise my Medicare his costs by $6,000. “How are my wife and I supposed to afford that?” Disney asks.

After a long pause, Grimes chimes in, “I don’t think he’s gonna answer that.” (release)

The pro-McConnell super PAC Kentucky Opportunity Coalition released a new anti-Grimes ad suggesting the Democrat “waffles” on the issues. Speaking over spy-movie music, a narrator reads news clips that claim Grimes “hides from voters” then asks, “what’s she hiding?” The ad is backed by a $715,000 buy, and will run July 8 through July 16.
