State Del. Barbara Comstock (R) won the Republican nomination for retiring Rep. Frank Wolf’s (R) seat in a party-run “firehouse” primary on Saturday. Comstock had widespread support, including endorsements from Wolf, whom she worked for, Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich, and Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R). She cast herself as an experienced pragmatist. “Congress is in desperate need of problem solvers and I intend to use my common sense principles to better the lives of my constituents when I am elected in November,” she said. Comstock will face Fairfax County Supervisor John Foust (D) in November.
