Nassau District Attorney Kathleen Rice (D) announced that she raised $1.47 million in the first quarter of 2014 and finished the quarter with $1.3 million cash on hand. Rice is running in a mostly Democratic district to replace retiring Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D). Nassau Legislative Minority Leader Kevan Abrahams (D), former County Legislative Presiding Officer Bruce Blakeman (R), and attorney Frank Scaturro (R) have not released fundraising numbers. McCarthy and the DCCC support Rice.
“We’re not going to raise what Kathleen raises,” Abrahams said. “But we’re going to raise enough to have a comprehensive field program and will be able to do mailings.” (Newsday)
