Rarely does a House com­mit­tee aide at­tract as much on­line re­ac­tion as Moore did last year when she pub­licly ques­tioned wheth­er a de­luge of phone calls Con­gress re­ceived against the Stop On­line Pir­acy Act and the Pro­tect IP Act may have been or­ches­trated by a few act­iv­ists. The le­gis­la­tion died, but the is­sues — in­clud­ing some ad­dressed in the pat­ent-re­form bill — show how the sub­com­mit­tee’s work is “com­plex by nature,” Moore says. The Alabama nat­ive has been with the com­mit­tee since 2001, ex­cept for a three-year stint from 2007 to 2010 with the House Edu­ca­tion and Labor Com­mit­tee.
