Ever want to meet Don Draper in real life? If you’re a Democratic political donor, now could be your chance.
Al Franken’s Senate campaign is running a fundraising competition where anyone who makes a contribution to the campaign is automatically entered for a chance to win a trip to Minneapolis for a Feb. 21 event with Franken and actor Jon Hamm. The contest is a bit different than your typical big-name fundraiser, as its goal seems to be at least as much about boosting the number of small campaign donors as padding the overall total.
Hamm’s not the only celebrity being used by politicians to help raise campaign cash. Three Republican members of Congress are holding fundraisers at a Justin Timberlake show in D.C. this month, and just a year ago Franken held a fundraiser with Conan O’Brien.
And Hamm himself is no stranger to politics. In 2012, he filmed a pitch for early voting in Colorado on behalf of Obama for America. But it’s not like Franken really is in desperate need for the appeal of one of People‘s 2008 “sexiest men alive.” He’s already potentially up double-digits over a GOP opponent, according to a recent poll. But, hey, every little bit helps.
