Each year, our entire research run is focused on the most pressing challenges that are facing Government Affairs offices in Washington.
This year, we are focused on three research areas:
1. Organizing for Collaborative Advocacy
How can Government Affairs offices develop the right systems and processes so the right people are collaboratively marching to the right cadence?
Our case studies will address:
- How to engineer common purpose, a systems mindset with the right processes
- How to partner across silos, operating as an agile, coordinated "team of teams"
- How to tap into organizational expertise, enlist stakeholders back at headquarters in your advocacy efforts
2. Demonstrating Thought Leadership in Public Policy Debates
How do organizations leverage internal expertise for multi-channel advocacy inside and outside of Washington?
Organizations are no longer getting credit for their expertise even though they may have an expert on the issue. Traditionally that expertise has been bottled up in a single channel, with Capitol Hill as the recipient.
Our case studies will address:
- Liberating expertise for smart strategic purposes that go beyond Hill meetings
3. Enlisting Authentic Messengers
How can we engage our broader network to play a larger role in advocacy messaging?
Organizations face limits and challenges in authentically engaging in public open debates.
Our case studies will address:
- Engaging a broader network of employees and supporters to play a large role in advocacy messaging
- Learning to go from actor to director, where GA enlists and coaches authentic message ambassadors
