Carney: No Trash Talk Ahead of Obama, Boehner Game

President Obama hit the links with Vice President Joe Biden, House Speaker John Boehner, and Ohio Gov. John Kasich (R) on June 18 -- and he has William Howard Taft to thank.

Taft was the first president to openly -- and enthusiastically -- play golf while in office. Since then, 15 of the past 18 sitting presidents have all taken a swing at the sport, making golf a favorite presidential pastime.

Here’s a look at the top 10 golfing presidents, according to Golf Digest.


CORRECTION: The original version of this report incorrectly stated who was the first sitting president to play golf. It was William McKinley; he feared criticism for playing an elite game invented by foreigners and tried to keep his outings secret.
