Obama to House: Pass Partial Tax Cut Extension

Now that the Democrats’ plan for a partial extension of the Bush tax cuts has passed the Senate, President Obama is calling on the House to do the same.

“I would urge the House of Representatives to do the right thing, and I’m going to make sure that my Cabinet members amplify that message in the days to come,” Obama said ahead of a meeting with his Cabinet on Thursday.   

The one-year bill passed by the Senate would keep taxes low on Americans making less than $250,000 per year while letting tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans elapse. The bill would “provide certainty and security to families that are already feeling pinched,” Obama said.
