Going back to his roots as a successful Internet campaigner, President Obama will head to Palo Alto, Calif., later this month to hold a town hall about the economy on Facebook.

“The President will connect with Americans across the country to discuss the tough choices we must all make to put our economy on a more responsible fiscal path, while still investing in the innovation economy that makes America more competitive,” the White House announced on Tuesday.

It’s not quite a town hall for all Facebook users.  The social networking site will preselect the questions to be asked during the event, but any user can submit their question at http://www.facebook.com/WhiteHouse.

The event will be streamed live on both that site and at http://www.whitehouse.gov/live on the afternoon of April 20.
