President Obama on Tuesday slammed GOP candidates for 'the casualness' some of them have been using in talk of going to war with Iran, and said many of their solutions to the potential nuclear crisis with Tehran were similar to his administration's.
"It indicates to me that is more about politics than trying to solve a difficult problem," Obama told reporters at the White House for his first press conference of the year. "If some of these folks think that it's time to launch a war, they should say so and explain to the American people why they would do that and what the consequences would be, everything else is just talk."
The president held the press conference Tuesday, as ten states vote for GOP presidential nominees.
"Those that are suggesting or proposing or beating the drums of war should explain clearly to the American people what they think the costs and benefits would be. I'm not one of those people," Obama said. "Because what I have said is that we have a window through which we can resolve this issue peacefully."
