Cass Sunstein, President Obama’s chief regulatory enforcer, will return to his post at Harvard Law School.
Sunstein, who has been administrator of the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs in the White house Office of Management and Budget for the past three and a half years, embraces “behavioral economics,” which provided the early pillars for Obama’s overhauls to health care and financial regulations.
At Harvard, Sunstein will occupy the position of Felix Frankfurter Professor of Law and director of the school’s Program on Behavioral Economics and Public Policy, Politico reported early Friday. Sunstein is married to Samantha Power, who serves as the National Security Council’s Senior Director for Multilateral Affairs and Human Rights.
“For the last three and a half years, Cass Sunstein has helped drive a series of historic accomplishments on behalf of the American people,” the president said in a statement. “From putting in place lifesaving protections for America’s families, to eliminating tens of millions of hours of paperwork burdens for our nation’s citizens and businesses, Cass has shown that it is possible to support economic growth without sacrificing health, safety, and the environment.”
