President Obama made an unannounced trip to Afghanistan on Tuesday on the anniversary of the death of Osama bin Laden. He is there to sign an agreement on the U.S. post-war role in the country, reports the Associated Press.
The president will speak to the nation from Bagram Air Base at 7:30 p.m. Obama is expected to sign the strategic partnership agreement with Afghan President Hamid Karzai shortly.
Obama left Andrews Air Force Base at 12:09 a.m. Tuesday morning, arriving at Bagram at 10:20 p.m. local time. He is currently at the presidential palace in Kabul.
