WHITE HOUSE

Obama Gives Thumbs Up to NBA Deal

President Obama called the agreement reached to end the NBA lockout a "good deal" and gave it a thumbs up on Saturday.

Obama is a big basketball fan, and was asked the question by a reporter after playing a basketball game with personal assistant Reggie Love. Later Saturday, the First Family will travel to Towson, Md., to watch a game between Oregon State and Towson.

It is unclear if the end of the NBA lockout would affect an Obama campaign fundraiser that current and former players are to hold on Dec. 12.

The deal, which involves $300 million a year in concessions by players, means that a 66-game basketball season will begin on Christmas Day, according to The New York Times.
