Male lawmakers are more conservative than their female counterparts. It's the same whether looking at the House or the Senate (in fact, men and women of both chambers average out to the same rating). That breakdown holds true in many subcategories, but not all of them. Where men are more conservative than women when looking at Senate Republicans, Senate Democrats, and House Democrats, the same is not true for House Republicans. In the House GOP there is no ideological difference between the men and the women. For more demographic breakdowns see the chart below.
