Christie: GOP Still Shouldn't Back Akin

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie said the Republican party should not support Rep. Todd Akin in the Missouri Senate race, even though the race factors critically into GOP plans to retake control of the Senate. 

A slew of Republican leaders, including Sens. Lindsey Graham and Jim Demint, have recently supported Akin, who remained in the race past the final deadline for withdrawal despite pressure from establishment Republicans to step aside after his controversial comments about rape and pregnancy.

But when asked on ABC’s This Week on Sunday whether the GOP should support Akin, Christie's response was simple: “No,” he said.
