During a visit to Scranton to promote his plan to make college more affordable, President Obama indirectly criticized Gov. Tom Corbett (R) for cutting education funding. Obama: "[S]tates have been cutting back on their higher education budgets. And let's face it, here in Pennsylvania there have been brutal cuts to not just higher education, but education, generally." McGINTY SCORES LABOR BACKER: Philadelphia Building and Construction Trades Council business manager Pat Gillespie on Thursday announced he's supporting former Department of Environmental Protection Secretary Katie McGinty (D). Gillespie is "one of the best-known and respected labor leaders in the state." The statement from the McGinty campaign "made it clear that she has earned the personal endorsement of Gillespie, not that of the building trades." (Philadelphia Inquirer)
