Mary Richardson Kennedy, the estranged wife of Robert Kennedy Jr., was found dead in her home in New York on Wednesday, according to the Associated Press.

Mary Kennedy, who had fought drug and alcohol problems, was the second wife of Robert Kennedy Jr., a prominent environmental lawyer and the son of the late Sen. Robert F. Kennedy, D-Mass. The couple had four children together.

Westchester county executive’s office spokesman Ned McCormack told AP that the medical examiner has taken Mary Kennedy’s body to an office in nearby Valhalla, but would not comment on the cause of death. An autopsy reportedly is scheduled for Thursday.
