Jan Foerster Zimmeck
Jan Foerster Zimmeck is art director for National Journal. She began her career as art director for Stern Advertising in Cleveland, then relocated to Washington, D.C. She served as publications director for George Mason University, where she established their visual identity program; and design consultant for Kiplinger's Personal Finance Magazine, Government Executive Magazine, Common Cause Magazine, and U.S. News and World Report. She received awards for magazine design, visual identity, and identity redesign from the Society of Illustrators, the Art Directors Club of Metropolitan Washington, Print Design Annual, The Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), The University and College Designers' Association, the National Headliner Awards, Graphic Design USA; and recognition from the Society of Publication Designers. Jan holds a BFA from Wittenberg University and the School of Visual Arts, and is a native of Cleveland, Ohio.
