Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood’s son and a group of other Americans have been prevented from leaving Egypt after that country's authorities raided the offices of international groups who monitored parliamentary elections, Politico reports.

Sam LaHood, who is director of the Egyptian program for the International Republican Institute, tried to board an airplane on Saturday, but was told he was on a “no-fly” list and was “refused permission to depart,” according to Politico.

The Americans have not been told why they can’t leave, though they still have their passports for now, IRI President Lorne Craner told Politico.
