Where Members Stand On Social Security

Click Here For Additional Social Security Coverage The staff at the Hotline has put together a collection of statements from nearly every House member about their views on Social Security. The basis for this project were three questions: "What does the member think of Bush's proposals on Social Security?", "What does the member think of the idea of involving private accounts in Social Security?" and "How many town halls is the Rep. holding on Social Security, if any?" To give offices a chance to answer, we contacted every office at least twice. For those members who did not respond, we culled local newspapers and their official websites for statements pertaining to our questions.

We realize this issue is a sensitive one for many members and because the debate has not yet taken place, opinions and positions will change. We would be glad to notate additional changes to this information. Please email us at mnorton@njdc.com with any additions.
