Former New York Gov. George Pataki will not pursue the GOP presidential nomination, CNN reported on Friday.

The moderate Republican has reportedly been mulling a White House bid for months, and he was expected to announce his intentions at an Iowa fundraiser this Saturday. He has since canceled his Iowa appearance, The New York Times reported.

Pataki spokesman David Catalfamo told The Times on Tuesdaythat Pataki was “seriously considering getting in the race.” With little national name recognition and campaign infrastructure, the former three-term governor faced tough odds in mounting a bid.

Pataki is currently chairman of the No American Debt PAC.
