With the first votes of the conclave producing no new pope, late-night comedians used the opportunity to talk about voting. On NBC, Jimmy Fallon brought back the 2000 voting and on CBS, David Letterman had a joke about the swing state of Ohio. Because they were on vacation last week, The Tonight Show’s Jay Leno and Fallon both took some time to examine older news, including the White House tour cancellations, Dennis Rodman and Barack Obama’s half-brother losing an election.
The Late Late Show’s Craig Ferguson used his homeland of Scotland to note the recent controversy involving Iran threatening to sue producers over the film Argo and also connected the overturn of the large drink ban to talk drones. Conan O’Brien also referenced recent drone news involving non-combat UAVs.
