Obama Says Fiscal Cliff Deal Appears 'Within Sight'

President Obama said on Monday that a deal to avert the fiscal cliff of automatic tax hikes and spending cuts seems to be "within sight."

  • Vice President Joe Biden and Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell have been in talks over a compromise.
  • The talks have yielded substantial progress on tax issues. One point of contention has been over whether to delay across-the-board spending cuts known as the sequester.
