Gov. Scott Sued Over Rejection of Funds for High Speed Rail

Lawmakers in Florida are suing Governor Rick Scott over his decision to reject funds approved by the White House for high-speed rail.

Scott became one of three Republican governors to reject federal supporting funds for high speed rail, when he turned down an offer of $2.4 billion to build a line from Orlando to Tampa. But Republican Thad Altman and Democrat Arthenia Joyner don’t think Scott should have the right to reject a plan that was already approved by a 2009 law, the Associated Press reports.

“This isn't a monarchy, and he isn't a king,” Joyner said.
